About Us

The Thai Vietnamese Student Association was started at Cal Poly by a small group of highly spirited, hard-working individuals with a goal of providing a place for students to meet and share their culture. The joint venture came to be after members and officers of both clubs realized the advantages of working together opened up doors to great new possibilities. TVSA is an organization dedicated to increasing cultural awareness and diversity on campus. It serves as a great place for students of various backgrounds (not just those of Thai or Vietnamese) to interact and become involved in the community. TVSA hopes to build cross-cultural bridges and acceptance from those of different backgrounds. TVSA brings the traditions and culture of Thailand and Vietnam to the Cal Poly campus and to the San Luis Obispo community. TVSA's activities focus on the celebration and exposure of Thai and Vietnamese culture. Members participate in events such as the Lantern Festival, Culturefest, Open House, and an annual cultural show, as well as providing authentic Thai Iced Tea, and other authentic dishes, to the campus and community . These events help members interact with each other and work together, while at the same time, demonstrate the customs of our cultures. Being a member of TVSA provides students an opportunity to forge long-lasting relationships that will extend beyond college.
